Dixon is a city located about 23 miles from Sacramento, encompassing a total area of about seven square miles. Nestled in northern Solano County, Dixon was originally known as “Dicksonville,” in honor of Thomas Dixon who donated roughly ten acres of his land to be used for the construction of a railroad depot in the area.
